Who’s Behind It Starts With Juice? (About Me)

It all started with a green juice. Hi, my name is Cici and I thank you for visiting It Starts With Juice, you’re probably wondering just what does that mean? In February of 2013 I was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Endometrial cancer, I was only 27 at the time and newly married. Needless to say that turned my entire world upside down. My cancer was aggressive and by the time I was diagnosed it had already metastasized to my lungs. I was given a bleak outlook, but I was determined to fight. I underwent 3 biopsies, 2 surgeries, a full hysterectomy, which at 27 equals early menopause and then to top it all off, here comes chemotherapy.

Fun,right? Thankfully getting prepared and wedding dress ready the October before, my Nutribullet was my best friend. Once I started chemo though, even my loved green smoothies were hard to keep down. I had a wonderful nurse and oncology team, and after much research and getting my teams OK, I started adding green juices in.

This was a Godsend, since I could not keep much down, having a supercharged juice especially on chemotherapy weeks, gave me the strength to not only fight and stay positive, but halfway through my treatment, I only had one small spot left in my lungs down from 6 and no signs of cancer in the original site.

I successfully completed chemo in September 2013 and have been cancer free for a little over 18 months as I write this. Ain’t God good? And it all started with a green juice.

Over the last two years I have worked on The Juicy Rx, which is now It Starts With Juice. I became a certified health coach through Integrative Nutrition, and trainer with Fittour. I’m also currently working through the ACE (American Council of Exercise) for a more in depth certified personal trainer degree. I take every opportunity to learn and pass it on to my clients.
